Position Title: Director of Enterprise Risk Date: June 2024

Department: Risk Management Status: Exempt

Reporting To: Chief Financial Officer/Chief Risk Officer Pay Grade: 12

POSITION SUMMARY

The position is responsible for the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program of the Credit Union through oversight of the Risk Management and Compliance & Audit functions. This includes collaboration to ensure management of the Credit Union's risk tolerance and appetite is in alignment with the Credit Union's strategic objectives. The Director of Enterprise Risk monitors the internal and external business environment to predict and analyze risk outcomes, recommend risk tolerances, and must possess the ability to communicate effectively, think strategically, take strong initiative, as well as have excellent management/leadership skills, and a strong business acumen.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for development and ongoing oversight of the Credit Union ERM framework and program. Includes identifying, measuring, managing, reporting, and governing the risks faced by the Credit Union.
  • Build and establish a cohesive risk data governance that assesses risk across business, technology, and compliance landscapes, incorporating how data is used, organized, secured, tested, monitored, and disseminated.
  • Implement and manage an effective fraud risk management program.
  • Promotes a "culture of compliance" across the Credit Union, with a focus on internal controls as well as encouraging self-reporting.
  • Manage the design and implementation of compliance activities across the Credit Union.
  • Oversight of an effective external audit program.
  • Implement a system of quality assurance as required to meet regulatory and Credit Union requirements, assurance of documentation, Policy conformance, and reporting.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as NCUA requirements. Ensures compliance with Credit Union Policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Maintains an ongoing commitment to evaluate emerging risks and trends.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, development, evaluating performance, and addressing issues.
  • Required to participate in First Source Federal Credit Union events as well as designated Community events.
  • Required to attend or participate in necessary compliance training, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy, OFAC, and Privacy.
  • Required to attend training sessions as appropriate.
  • Required to travel as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Related business degree plus 10+ years related experience. 7-10 years proven Management experience
  • Prior ERM and Compliance Management experience at a financial institution is required. Prior experience in Credit Risk Management, loan portfolio, and forecasting are a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of Credit Union regulatory compliance and operational requirements, including depository and lending regulations, state and federal consumer lending and debt collection rules, regulations, and laws.
  • Certifications such as CUCE, NCCO, CUERME, and/or NCRM, or similar designations are preferred.
  • Strong operations and management skills.
  • Experience presenting information and facilitating collaborative discussion around risk and compliance.
  • Strong networking and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to make key contributions to strategy and support executive decision making with analytical abilities specifically around risk and reward.
  • Provide outstanding service to internal Departments and work collaboratively.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple projects, and streamline processes to optimize efficiency, compliance, and the member experience.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and able to become proficient in the use of various other software applications and technologies that may be used in the performance of responsibilities.
