ELECTRICAL PROJECT MANAGER / ESTIMATOR

Location: Chicago IL
Job Type and Duration: 6 Month Contract to Hire
Pay: $28.00 - $48.00 per hour plus (depending on experience level)

Our client, a privately owned Electrical Contractor, is adding a Project Manager/Estimator to their dynamic Chicago team.

This individual would be involved with managing and estimating electrical construction projects in the heavy commercial and light industrial sectors, varying in size and location. These projects will encompass various industries and may be located throughout the Chicagoland area. This position involves creating and identifying new bidding opportunities, initiating job estimates from start to finish, planning and executing the awarded work, monitoring and controlling the project, and closing it out with the assistance of other departments.

The Electrical Estimator / Project Manager is the single point of accountability for the delivery of the project, including design (where applicable), scope, cost, and schedule. This individual will provide overall direction on projects involving industrial electrical construction and maintenance. The position also includes developing new business opportunities with specific clients, groups of clients, and market sectors. Project sizes can typically range from $10,000 to $5M. This position would work directly under the lead estimator/ownership.

RESPONSIBILITIES
* Be able to utilize Accubid electrical estimating software
* Perform electrical estimate takeoffs
* Prepare project construction schedules
* Submit "Requests for Information to clients
* Manage day-to-day activities of assigned projects
* Act as the main point of contact for project personnel
* Coordinate meetings, schedule updates, submit deliverables, and address outstanding open items as requested by clients
* Prepare look-ahead documents and weekly, monthly progress reports, and billing information
* Review and monitor job costs versus budgets
* Report regularly to the management team
* Prepare complete cost estimates (labor and material) for commercial & industrial projects within set deadlines
* Perform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation
* Participate in the estimate review process with lead estimators and ownership
* Prepare bills of material and other information for use by purchasing
* Prepare complete labor and material cost estimates
* Schedule and attend field walk-downs with customers, subcontractors, and construction personnel to understand and determine constructability requirements
* Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistency
* Assist in the preparation and submission of change orders
* Regular and predictable attendance
* Other duties as assigned
* Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location REQUIREMENTS
* 3-5+ years of project management and estimating experience in the electrical industry
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; combination of relevant education and experience considered instead of a degree
* Knowledgeable with specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services
* Knowledgeable of the N.E.C. and all relevant local codes
* Able to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, etc. plans and specifications to include blueprints, proposals, and other documents as they relate to electrical work
* Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office applications
* Proficient with estimating software such as Accubid or equivalent
* Ability to prepare construction schedules in Microsoft Project and/or Primavera
* Excellent analytical, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills
* Self-driven with the ability to stay on-task for extended periods ESPO Corporation
