What You’ll Do

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Import Coordinator is responsible for

excellent customer service and management of files and records to ensure timely delivery of

items and resolution of issues. The Import Coordinator must be able to successfully

communicate with a variety of local and international clientele and vendors, with diplomacy and

discretion.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all aspects of import shipments (air, LCL, FCL).

• Responsible for quoting, booking shipments, securing all documentation for import

customs clearance, and creating arrival notices.

• Bill for all shipment charges and approve vendor billing.

• Secure and dispatch truckers accordingly.

• Promote the use of GLC warehouses and trucks.

• Update customers and agents on the status of each shipment.

• Ensure legal compliance with US Customs, FMC, FDA and other government agencies.

• Promote GLC Inc. by taking each shipment as an opportunity to learn more about the

importer, their manufacturers, and customers, while presenting our services for any of their

future shipping needs.

• Responsible for maintaining active knowledge in industry related changes/initiatives and

communication on findings being sent back to the team.

• Responsible for reviewing/updating/maintaining import customer charges and for all

import related opportunities/quoting.

• Maintain profitability on all files.

• Responsible for agent development/feedback for both agents routed business and GLC

nominated cargo.

• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Successful Candidates Must Demonstrate the Following Abilities:

• Minimum 2+ years of experience working with imports.

• Basic understanding of CargoWise preferred.

• Familiar with USDOT HOS regulations.

• Effective communication skills with team members, customers, and vendors.

• Dedication to outstanding customer service through communication and information

management.

• Ability to maintain a positive attitude under a stressful environment.

• Strong organizational skills.

• Fluent in Spanish Preferred.

• Great attention to detail.

• Diligent and punctual.

• Occasional shift flexibility and occasional over time.

• Strong work ethic and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

• Working well on diverse teams and highly collaborative.

• Exceptionally motivated, organized, and detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

• Curious with a desire to learn; team player with a willingness to help where required.

• Ability to work and communicate with peers and management.

• Ability to follow instructions and follow through with those instructions.

• Ability to manage time and complete assigned work through strong organizational and

problem-solving skills
