The Energetics and Propulsion Department, which is part of the Mechanical Engineering Directorate, is looking for a Senior Flight Safety System Engineer. This organization is responsible for the design and development of propulsion technology to support the Land Warfare and Air Defense mission area. If you’re passionate about what you could accomplish here, we’d love to hear from you. *Job Summary:* The Senior Flight Safety System Engineer position is to join our Corporate or Research Center Team: Requires knowledge of work area, typically obtained through education combined with experience. May have knowledge of project management. This position is located in Tucson, Arizona.

  • This position is a hybrid role, and the selected applicant will work with the hiring manager to set schedule.
  • Qualifications You Must Have:*
  • Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 5 years’ experience with technical engineering background, in the aerospace or government sector or Advanced degree and 3 years of relevant experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Qualifications We Value:*

  • 5 years of directly related experience in mechanical and electrical design
  • Specific experience developing electrical sub systems used in flight termination (electronic arm fire devices, flight termination receivers, flight termination controllers, tracking systems, etc.)
  • Experience developing and qualifying flight systems for harsh environments.
  • Working knowledge of RCC319.
  • Experience developing destruct termination devices.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
