Position Summary:   

The Senior Manager, Data Governance, has the primary mission of establishing and reinforcing a strong data governance culture throughout the business. This will involve influencing process and data owners; raising the functions’ awareness of data management processes and controls; empowering process owners and their teams to manage their critical data in line with related policies and standards. In addition to strengthening foundational elements of data governance, the role holder will also have opportunities to act as an influential colleague contributing to design and implementation of processes and controls in governance that support strategic business-wide data priorities such as data usage, data architecture capabilities, data strategy and data privacy & protection.

 

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:  

  • Develop and execute a data governance strategy and continue to refine and tailor it to business requirements. Collaborate with global stakeholders to align data governance objectives and ensure consistency. Develop and Implement Data Governance Metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of the current Data Governance initiatives
  • Create a comprehensive data governance frameworks and review and update to meet the specific requirements of projects. Ensure alignment with international data protection and privacy regulations. Ensures the organization’s data management disciplines operate effectively and that Data Quality Assessments regularly identify data issues and recommend remediation actions
  • Become a trusted source of truth for the business to enable operational development
  • Educate employees and stakeholders on data governance principles, data, policies, and procedures, and ensure their understanding and compliance
  • Ensure Data Security, Privacy Compliance, and foundational infrastructure ensuring all data governance activities comply with relevant data security and privacy regulations. Including data quality tools, classification systems, and processes for effective data lifecycle management
  • Oversee the Creation and Maintenance of Data Governance Documentation, including data dictionaries, data classification frameworks, and data governance frameworks. Monitor the new data governance program. Promote the Role of Governance: Advise on policy, while following data governance best practices. Regularly assess the effectiveness of data governance processes and make continuous improvements
  • Other projects or duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years’ experience in governance tool deployment, business, and data science plus 4+ years’ experience managing a Data Governance team, responsibilities, or consultant with different deployment experiences. Or HS Diploma with 9+ years of above experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus 4+ years management experience
  • Experience implementing data governance rules and tools and building culture
  • Proven experience in establishing data governance, data management, practices, data quality, and data security principles in a multinational setting
  • Experience in Implementing Data Governance tools: The candidate should have previous experience in implementing a Data Governance project/ program
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are important
  • Familiarity with global data protection and privacy regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in building and leading teams
  • Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing priorities is important in a dynamic field like data governance
  • Be able to talk to a developer but also with senior management. Experience in influencing C-levels and both business and technical stakeholders, as well as being able to effectively communicate ideas or outcomes to any type of audience

  • Master’s Degree
