Headquartered in centrally located Chehalis, Washington, Alta operates fence board sawmills, reload facilities, and log yards in various Northwest rural communities, including Morton, Shelton, Amanda Park, Winlock in Washington, and Naples, Bonners Ferry, and Lewiston in Idaho.

The Role:

We are seeking a seasoned Supply Chain Manager to join our HQ team in Chehalis, WA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for shaping and optimizing various facets of our operations, focusing on managing the flow of goods, information, or services within the supply chain network. This role requires strong leadership skills, strategic planning, and a customer-centric approach to drive process improvements and operational efficiency. As a strategic supply chain manager, you'll own operations end-to-end, emphasizing sales and operations planning, logistics optimization, network design, and operational efficiency analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Optimize transportation routes, select logistics providers, manage warehousing and distribution centers, and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery and reduce costs.
  • Prepare forecasting projections to influence inventory decisions
  • Collaborate with operations and sales to understand sales orders and demand forecasts
  • Identify supply chain risk and develop solutions to ensure consistent flow to market
  • Anticipate and resolve potential bottlenecks in production to minimize downtime and maximize productivity
  • Drive decisions that support internal/external programs, customers, and product/order commit dates
  • Optimize execution of the supply chain, balancing inventory, supply orders, and scheduled demands
  • Monitor, analyze, identify trends, and act on Key Performance Indicators
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer service due dates
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with third-party vendors and business partners.
  • Provide timely communication, leadership, and continuous process improvement.
  • Adaptability to work in a constantly changing and fast-paced environment
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional supply chain management, logistics, and/or production planning support.
  • Proven experience in demand planning, data management, or related roles.
  • Previous management experience in a multifunctional team environment.
  • Experience in data analysis
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, nonverbal, and presentation); able to convey strong, clear messages to target audiences of all sizes, including co-workers, leadership, customers, and industry groups.
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills at multiple levels.
  • Experience in a role requiring strategic planning
  • Proven track record of working to KPIs and achieving targets
  • Capability to maintain confidentiality in all mandated assignments
  • Ability to relate to and interact with staff and external customers
  • Proficient working knowledge of computers and Microsoft® Office Suite
  • Competence to lead and provide guidance to other (new/inexperienced) staff in the relevant area of specialty
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team.

Work Environment

This role will operate in a professional office, occasionally visiting sawmills and reload facilities. While performing the duties of this job, employees may be exposed to machinery and moving mechanical parts. This position may be exposed to noise, hazards, airborne particulates, and temperature changes in indoor and outdoor weather conditions.

Position Type/Travel/Schedule

This position is exempt per FLSA guidelines and not eligible for overtime. A typical schedule requires the ability to work 40 hours a week. Flexibility to work evenings or weekends to accommodate critical goals and objectives may be necessary. Travel for this position may be required as work demands up to 10%.

  • Pay Range: $85,500 - $120,000 per year (starting wage will be dependent on qualifications and experience)
