We are currently searching for an experienced Traffic Engineer to support our growing Traffic Engineering Department in the Mid-Atlantic region located in Springfield, VA, Washington, DC, Columbia, MD, Camp Hill, PA or Virginia Beach, VA. The position may be filled at a higher position depending on the qualifications.

• The candidate will support in delivery of traffic engineering projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary team and serve a key role in various traffic tasks on roadway improvements, intersection modifications, complete streets and multimodal projects.
• The candidate will also support Capital Improvement/Mega Projects in the DMV area. The successful candidate will work on challenging transportation design projects providing technical expertise and ensuring compliance with locality and state DOT standards.

What you’ll be doing:

The candidate should have a strong background in developing traffic engineering design plans for construction. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare design plans for various traffic engineering tasks involving various intersection safety and multimodal improvements as well as large infrastructure projects
• Prepare traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations
• Prepare traffic management plan (TMP) and temporary traffic control plans, permanent signing and pavement marking plans

• Prepare permanent signing and pavement marking plans
• Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings, corridor studies and analysis, road safety audits and engineering reports
• Prepare quantities and develop PS&E packages supporting highway design projects
• Collaborate with diverse team of professionals including engineers, transportation planners and landscape architects

• Attend project meetings with clients
• Support Project Managers in various project management activities such as assist in developing scope and fee proposals, presentations, and reports

What you need to have:

• BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• 3-7 years of traffic engineering experience
• EIT is required, PE is preferred
• Must be proficient in MicroStation or AutoCAD
• Familiarity with VDOT and/or DDOT standards, MUTCD and AASHTO
• Knowledge of traffic analyses software packages
• Self-starter and capable of completing tasks with minimal oversight
• Attention to details and quality driven approach
