Job Title: Transporter

Key Responsibilities:

Provides scheduled transportation services for youth to and from the program and other times as needed.

  • Assist in development and maintenance of efficient pick-up and delivery route schedules.

 

  • Operate van and other vehicles to ensure youth attendance at program or for program activities; Transport youth at other times as needed.

 

  • Maintain, inspect, clean, and perform vehicle operator-level maintenance to assigned vehicles in accordance with YOI Policy and program guidelines.

 

  • Complete the vehicle safety checklist before and after each use.

 

  • Ensure vehicle is road-worthy, and report unsafe vehicle issues to program staff immediately.

 

  • Operate assigned vehicles in a safe manner; obey traffic laws and comply with all YOI policies and program operating guidelines.

 

  • As assigned, supervise youth at the facility or in the community, document behavior issues

Other Duties Include:

  • Maintain a high standard of role model behavior for youth.

  • Maintain van cell phone contact with the program as needed; do not operate vehicle while using phone.

 

  • Participate in training and development activities as required.

 

  • Report any acts, incidents or conditions that reflect the possibility of inappropriate youth-to-youth or staff-to-youth relationships.

 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience : Prior successful work-related driving experience required. Proven safe driving record required. For incumbents with a high school diploma or equivalent, two years’ work experience working with youth preferred.

Skills: - Safe driving skills and practices. Ability to relate to wide diversity of youth and adults.

Physical Demands: Ability to transport others; ability to maintain sitting position for at least ½ of business day; ability to occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds; ability to concentrate on road and traffic conditions, while maintaining order from passengers; must be free of communicable disease as defined by the appropriate state and to the extent that knowledge is attainable under the law; maintain minimum training hours and credentials as defined by YOI.

Other : Must maintain an appropriate and valid state driver’s license. Must meet state criminal background check requirements. Ability to work non-traditional work schedule, including evenings and weekends. Must be able to meet requirements for YOI’s Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes. Must have and maintain appropriate and valid state driver’s license.
